What to Expect at the Dr. Seuss Breakfast on Carnival Radiance

Is it worth booking this whimsical family experience? We tried it and here’s what happened!
If you’ve ever cruised with kids (or are young at heart), you’ve probably seen the colorful flyers for the Dr. Seuss Thing One and Thing Two Breakfast. During our Carnival Radiance sailing, my son and I decided to check it out—and let’s just say it was… a very Seuss-ical start to the day.
First Impressions: High-Energy and High Volume
The breakfast is held in the Sunrise Dining Room, which is completely transformed with bright colors, character appearances, and nonstop Dr. Seuss music. If you’re traveling with younger kids, the energy is a win. But for my 13-year-old? Let’s just say he wasn’t sure we’d last the whole meal. 😅
Even though we had a reservation and prepaid, we still had to wait a bit before being seated. Thankfully, the staff were friendly and in great spirits, making the wait a little easier.
Pro tip: This breakfast fills up fast—book early via your Carnival Hub app.
Drinks, Menu & That Seussical Twist
Once seated, we were quickly served juice and water. The menu is accessed via QR code and written in playful rhymes (of course). It took a second to decode what was actually being served—but once we did, we were pleasantly surprised.
Compared to the standard buffet upstairs, this breakfast has elevated dishes with a playful presentation. Think cheesy grits, pancakes topped with Froot Loops, and even green eggs and ham (yes, really).
Character Fun: Thing 1, Thing 2, and Sam-I-Am
Throughout the breakfast, Thing One and Thing Two danced around the dining room, posed for pictures, and signed autographs. It was cute, interactive, and even got a smile out of my too-cool-for-this tween.
We didn’t personally order green eggs and ham, but we spotted them at a nearby table—brightly colored and surprisingly appetizing (even if a bit confusing to the eyes).
Later, Sam-I-Am made a surprise appearance, and guests were invited to bring their books up for a special photo opp.
Don’t forget your camera! These character moments make for great cruise memories.
The Food: Colorful, Sugary, but Creative
We received a full spread of breakfast items including pancakes, French toast with Froot Loops, cheesy grits, oatmeal, and hash browns. While some dishes were a bit on the sweet side for my taste, the presentation was fun and Instagram-worthy.
Honestly, it’s not about the gourmet flavors—it’s about the experience, especially for families.
Is the Dr. Seuss Breakfast Worth It?
Overall, yes. While the vibe is geared more toward younger kids, the themed entertainment, unique menu, and cheerful atmosphere make it a special touch to any Carnival cruise.
If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing breakfast—this isn’t it. But if you’re seeking a fun, themed family meal with great photo ops, it’s definitely worth adding to your sea day plans.
Bonus Fun: Sea Day Adventures After Breakfast
After the meal, we headed up to the top deck where my son conquered the ropes course at WaterWorks. And since it was a sea day, you already know… there was plenty of snacking, sun, and deck party vibes throughout the afternoon and evening.
That night, we stumbled into a Lido deck party (not even sure what it was for), but we danced, laughed, and ended the day just right.
